Our Alpine Ski Academy is accepting athletes for year 4 of this outstanding program. Enrolled athletes get a unique opportunity to combine athletics and academics in a high performance environment with like-minded students. Athletes must be enrolled in a Vernon School District 22 school and be in grade 8-12. We accept athletes who compete in either free ski or alpine ski events.

You can find more information regarding academics by going to this link http://www.sd22.bc.ca/Programs/academies/snowsports/Pages/default.aspx

Generally athletes train to improve fitness 4 days per week during school time in the off-season (blocks mid May to end June; start septmeber to mid-Nov.) They will work on training strength, cardiovascular, agility, mobility, and coordination. We use a number of facilities although try to keep the program outdoors when possible. We have a unique partnership with Crossfit Vernon which allows athletes to learn the fundamentals of resistance training in a supervized setting.

In season, our academy athletes have the option to train 4 days per week (currently thursday-Sunday). This increases the amount of exposure they get to snow. Most experts agree that the frequency and volume of time on snow is critical to improvement. We have 2 academy coaches dedicated to the program:

Andrew Lambert (CSCF 3, Mkin, CSCS, FMS) Head Coach, Academy Director
Ian Chernencoff (CSCF DL Trained) Academy Coach
