News and Announcements

We had twenty athletes and a bunch of parents and coaches out for the Olympia Club Ride this morning. These autumn days with tacky dirt and cool temperatures make for incredible riding conditions and great learning opportunities. Splitting into smaller groups of different ability levels allowed for an ideal level of challenge for all the riders. In addition to a great ride, athletes, parents and coaches got chance to connect with each other in the pre-season. Great times!

Next weekend we will be riding the South Canoe trails near Salmon Arm. The trailhead is close to 6811 10th Ave SE. BBQ to follow at nearby house of Ray and Doris Mills – burgers will be supplied. People are asked to bring veggies or chips to supplement the post-ride lunch.

Olympia Ride in Kal Park Sunday

The Olympia Club Ride will be in Kal Park this weekend starting at the Cosen’s Bay Parking lot from 9:30-11:30am. Kal offers a wide variety of trails from beginner to advanced and we will plan to split into different ability level groups.

Last weekend’s ride at Ellison was popular with U16’s, U14’s, U12’s and Race Tiger athletes coming out and a whole bunch of parents too! The work party at the club cabin on Saturday was productive with 15 people showing up to help get the cabin in fine form for the coming winter. Thanks to all who came out to help!

News for this coming weekend

Posted by Vernon Ski Club at Sep 13, 2018 8:11PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

VSC has got a couple of activities planned for the weekend of Sept 15 and 16.

On Saturday from 9am, we have a work party happening at the club cabin. We will be doing some painting of the trim outside, installing some new flooring on the stairs going to the parent’s lounge, removing and re-laying the flooring in the lunch room, some general cabin clean up and repair of gates etc, and some clean up of the property surrounding the cabin. We’re hoping to get ten people or more to blitz this in one shot and get the cabin looking great for the up coming season. So break out the work gloves and come to join the fun!

On Sunday, there will be an Olympia Club Ride at Ellison from 9:30-11:30. This is part of the Fast and Fit program and is also open to all club members. It’s a great opportunity to go and ride with your best ski buds and we plan to have several different groups of different abilities so that everyone gets a good ride with an ideal amount of challenge.

Hope you can make it!

The Vernon Ski Club’s Fast and Fit program is into it’s second week and numbers are strong with 19 athletes aged 8-12 years old. It’s a great way to get into ski shape before the season and to strengthen the friendships developed through ski racing. Athletes are able to train up to 4 times a week and will do field sessions consisting mainly of games geared to developing athleticism, indoor rock climbing, trampoline training with certified trampoline coaches, mountain biking, hiking and cross-country skiing.
